Right Turn: Things you should know before ISSCR

What’s small and blue and brings a smile to your face? No, not a Smurf and I’m not talking about a little blue pill either. It’s the little cartoon guy from Life Technologies and he has a mission for those who are ISSCR-bound (and even those who aren’t). Watch him here to find out how you might win a Google Glass.

Now that you’re thinking about ISSCR’s 12^th Annual Meeting, here are a few other things you should know.

CCRM and the Stem Cell Network will have staff at the meeting and we would love to have you visit us at our booths – 611 and 609 respectively. We intend to provide updates from Vancouver, so make sure to watch this space. We also like to tweet so follow us on Twitter for some live tweeting throughout the week.

And speaking of blogging, five Vancouver high school students won a one-day registration to attend ISSCR through StemCellTalks Vancouver, Let’s Talk Science and the Stem Cell Network. They wrote an essay on “why I want to go to ISSCR.” They are:

Last, but definitely not least, CCRM and the Stem Cell Network, in association with ISSCR, are hosting a public symposium about stem cell therapies at Science World in Vancouver on Tuesday, June 17. We have Timothy Caulfield, Gregory Bonfiglio, Kelly McNagny and Jennifer Molson as our expert panelists, and Vancouver Sun reporter Pamela Fayerman moderating the evening. Our regular feature, Right Turn, showcases the “lighter” side of stem cells and regenerative medicine. Every Friday, we will bring you cartoons, photos, videos and other content that may be just as thought provoking as the written submissions that you are used to finding here, but they definitely won’t be blogs.
