Hobgoblins, hocus pocus, hayrides and haunted houses…Happy Halloween!

Do those words conjure up a feeling of dread or does a wave of happiness wash over you when you hear Happy Halloween? Perhaps more relevant here, does the word Halloween ever make you think of stem cells?

Stem cells and Halloween don’t typically go together unless, like me, you’ve noticed the similarities between zombies and regenerative medicine.

It appears that I’m not the only one making the connection. Life Technologies, a brand of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is a global life sciences company that supplies products across a variety of research and applied markets. (Life Technologies is also an associate member of CCRM’s industry consortium.)

Life Technologies would like to help you celebrate this day of fantasy, fear and frightful fun by encouraging you to send a FREE themed e-card to your friends and colleagues. With no requirement on your part to demonstrate a trick, Life Technologies is throwing in an added treat: for every e-card sent, it will donate $1 to the American Cancer Society in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. What a ghoulishly great idea!

Halloween Cards for Signals

Our regular feature, Right Turn, showcases the “lighter” side of stem cells and regenerative medicine. Every Friday, we will bring you cartoons, photos, videos and other content that may be just as thought provoking as the written submissions that you are used to finding here, but they definitely won’t be blogs.

As always, we welcome your feedback and we also welcome suitable submissions. Be creative! Use the right (!) side of your brain. Make us laugh! Let’s see if we can make this new direction a positive one for all of us. Send your submission to info(at)ccrm.ca.
