The Stem Cell Network is pleased to announce a Strategic Research funding opportunity for Public Policy and ELSI (Ethical, Legal and Social Issues) research in the stem cell field. Deadline for application is August 27, 2009 for funding to begin on October 1, 2009. Please note that this competition is open to all Canadian researchers who are eligible for SSHRC, CIHR or NSERC funding.
In this strategic competition, SCN anticipate funding two types of projects:
Strategic Core Research Projects: large projects involving a multidisciplinary team of investigators (approximately 4-5 investigators) funded for two years (from October 1, 2009 to September 30, 2011) with a total envelope of up to $150,000 per team. Please note that SCN anticipates funding 3-4 core projects. In addition, SCN may provide financial support to facilitate pre-submission meetings and discussions between investigators and with potential receptors.
Strategic Impact Projects: very targeted projects with strong potential for short term outcomes involving a small team of investigators (approximately 1-2 investigators) funded for one year (from October 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010) with a total envelope of up to $50,000 per project. Please note that SCN anticipates funding 2-3 strategic impact projects.
